Tired of her own mess getting in the way of God’s best for her, she whispered a simple prayer, ‘set fire to all my broken desires’
set fire prayer: the reason why it matters

she prayed
for strength and courage so she could stop destroying her life from the inside out. And that was a bold prayer, because turning the mirror on yourself can be the hardest thing to do. But, if you intend to rise past old pain, then you’ll have to do some honest reflection, someday. So why wait?
Listen. I don't care what you've been through or which mistakes you’ve made and messes you’ve created, God wants to set fire to functional pain and all the issues you’ve learned how to live with.
a prayer for strength and courage
begins from the inside out. It’s less about what’s wrong with everyone else. And more about what’s going on with you. It’s about slowing down and checking in on you. Because when all is said and done ~
the revolution that matters most is the one happening inside you.
So, this prayer is short, but powerful. It’s you giving God permission to deal — with you.
The Bible says,
where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’
2 COR 3:17 KJV
It’s common for people to take a word and quote it like slang, but not live it everyday. And when we do that, we miss the power inside the message.
so let’s slow down a minute to catch it.
There's freedom where God’s spirit is. And not only that, the Word associates it with fire.
…He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
LUKE 3:16b NIV
This fire is designed for strength and courage. Designed for freedom and healing. Designed for you. So, when we pray, “set fire…” We're NOT burning down arbitrary buildings. We’re burning down old pain. It's a simple request to help me be better today than I was yesterday.
