TRUE STRENGTH is when you own the stuff and the stuff don’t own you. Never the other way around.
Your money don’t run you. Your perfect car don’t run you. Your designer clothes don’t run you. You run it all — never forget.
Here’s the latest Hot Prayers Spoken Word Video: “Not The Stuff”
I MET A REAL LIFE “LABEL WHORE” (her words)
“Louis Vuitton’s, Cache, Guichi,” she continued to list her favorite brand for shades, clothes and shoes and the list went on to include brands way over my head. She called herself a “label whore” not proudly or in shame. She said it as a matter of fact, “I’m a label whore.”
So what does that mean?
Ugly crap becomes designer with the right name on it? Or beautiful things get ignored because it has the wrong label in it? I don’t know really.
But I do know this,
I want to look good, feel good in what I have on. I want to live in the best, drive the best and have nice things — but under no circumstances do I want those nice things to have me. Meaning I can walk away if I have to. I can walk away — and pay my bills first and shop second. I can walk away — and plan for a future beyond measure. I can walk away — and wear an unknown label just because it looks good on me and not just because it sounds good to say I own it.
it’s not the stuff that makes the girl, it’s the girl that makes the stuff.”
As grown women we know this already, but maybe our girls don’t.
Here’s your personal challenge, save a girl today.
Remind her that she is beautiful and smart and special — for all the right reasons. Her heartbeat makes her special. Her existence makes her special. Her uniqueness makes her special.
Always remember the truth
I like my car, my clothes and my house. But life is much sweeter when you realize that it’s NOT THE STUFF that makes you special. So you don’t loose your mind in seasons where life falls apart.
Instead, you regroup, reset and keep it moving. Because you are and always have been more than your stuff.
