TRUE STRENGTH is when you own the stuff and the stuff don't own you…Your money, your perfect car, your designer clothes don't run you. You run it. Never the other way around.
“Label Whore,” her words
“Louis Vuitton’s, Cache, Gucci,” she continued to list her favorite brand for shades, clothes, shoes and the list went on to include brands way over my head. She called herself a “label whore” not proudly or in shame, just as a matter of fact,
I’m a label whore.”
And that declaration made me think. Ugly stuff can become designer with the right name on it. Right? And beautiful things can get ignored because it has the wrong label or the wrong branding on in it. Right? I don't know how it all works.
But I do know this,
I want to look good, feel good in what I have on. I want to live in the best, drive the best and have the best in life — but under no circumstances do I want those things to have me. The dream is to live and be and do and have whatever we think we deserve, but the stuff you get is never more important than YOU.
And as long as you know that, then you can walk if you need to. Meaning you can let go of whatever you have to let go of.
- You can pay your bills first and shop second.
- You can walk away — and plan for a future beyond measure.
- You can walk away — and wear an unknown label just because it looks good on you and not only because it sounds good to say you own it.
You can change the game. You can set the standard. You can shape the trend.
Why? Because
it’s not the stuff that makes the girl, it’s the girl that makes the stuff.”
As grown women we know this already, but maybe our girls don’t.
Save a girl today.
Here’s your personal challenge, save a girl today. Remind her that she is beautiful and smart and special — for all the right reasons. Her heartbeat makes her special. Her existence makes her special. Her uniqueness makes her special. And as for you, always remember the truth:
Final Thoughts:
I like my car, my clothes and my house. But life is much sweeter when you realize that it's NOT THE STUFF that makes you special. So you don't loose your mind in seasons where life appears to fall apart.
When you know what's really valuable, you can regroup, reset and keep it moving. Because you are and always have been more than your stuff.
